Moonshine and Rain

Inside of a bubble
the air is thin and clean

After the rain
I walk along the edge of the sea
under the globe which holds our light
no one found, but moth and mite
trapped in warm blood
I sit alone
a cup full of honey and spirits in my hand
I take a sip, to forget that I drink
I pull the moon down, close to my chest
white heat, warm as wool
My shadow takes a seat
We sit in sand and laughter, make merry,
before this spring night fades away
For the ones who have washed forward,
drowned to storm and stone,
I drink with the moon and my form
We make a promise,
sun showers and sweet dew-
the ones we break and burn
My shadow stands,
a molten mist,
scatters into the sea
The moon walks home
I wait for the next rain

  3. Us poor creatures like moth and mite are trapped in warm blood. Your beautiful words surpass all those limitations as you converse with the moon and yet I wonder whether it you or your shadow that is telling the tale.

    1. Aren't we? Sort of trapped, having to live and all...hmm, the silhouette form holding secrets, scattered in the sea. You always provide another portion of thought. Thank you!

  5. 'inside of a bubble the air is clean and thin'- this set the scene completely.....I really enjoyed the soothing/dreamlike quality of this poem....Pulling the moon from the sky emphasised a closeness to the earth, to nature maybe.....at that warming drink....this was comforting.....great to walk alongside with you in this one

    1. We both held onto this invisible theme, in some way yours felt like a positive drift, all the thinking, i think. And in the sky, isn't it fun to imagine that drink with them? Thank you Jae :)

    1. Hi, thank you for that lovely gesture. The submission part overwhelms me so I haven't overcome it, but maybe at some point. :)

  12. Two of my most fav subjects here, the moon and water and, as a water sign I have to say your prose is beautiful. The images were clear as a bell and vivid. There's nothing as lovely as connecting with the power/energy of nature, is there. Seeing its beauty, hearing its sounds, feeling its force. What a wonderful walk and, piece of prose describing it.

  13. I love this:

"a cup full of honey and spirits in my hand
I take a sip, to forget that I drink
I pull the moon down, close to my chest
    white heat, warm as wool"

    And your ending.
