Beauty

Who are we
the ones that fall quietly from the sky
hang from thistle string
in our luxury
know nothing of the havoc
below the light

  3. This is a superb example of a poem for the firefly jar: beautiful words (thistle string - Oh my!), eloquent ideas, and a delicate balance of lines. I love the image of the stone among the lambs ears and impatiens.

Thank you for sharing on Real Toads today.

  4. The stone's poem is something all by itself, but the words you drew from it are even more ethereal and magical...this is one of the most 'firefly-like' of the examples I've read--just lovely and luminous. 'in our luxury' indeed.

  6. Just the stone is a poem in itself but reading it in its entirety has a mythical tone to it. Beautiful

  10. We need a nudge now and then to appreciate the gift of sight and then wonder how what we can see can be described so beautifully.

  12. I read yesterday, then marked this to come back. Who are we, indeed? This is a perfect rendition of "Judge not lest ye be judged."

  13. What a wonderful idea to write poetry fragments on a few stones scattered about a flower garden. I will have to do that next year. Lovely.
