Dance in Air

I count and wait as they dance on:

After the flake and the flurry
there is something left behind
in her eyes, a powered sky

Our wings mix with colors
where the snow bleeds red
in my hands, a pocket of time

A night between thin air
Her song, danser dans l'air
in my heart, blood stains blue

Earth empties its waste
I count and wait
in her scent, love holds true

The darling buds of May
a moon beginning to wane
in my dream, I dance with you

Inspired by Marian at Imaginary Garden with Real Toads where she shares her admiration for The Jayhawks.
Shared at Sunday Scribblings, my form of 'stretch' is to dance.

    1. Marian, this was fun! I don't know if it gets any better than a music and color prompt. Thank you!

  2. How dreamlike this is as colors and feeling are intermingled, each change observed prompts a new sense of love.

    1. I think that there is a color and scent for all of our feelings. And a bunch of colors for love. :)

  3. Oh, there is so much beautiful subtle movement within this poem, Archna!! So artfully rendered. I love the red on white and the blue in red of these bleeding raw images. Well written!

  8. The lightness of touch you have with words means that air is the natural place for you to dance. Beautiful.

    1. Thanks Brian! I don't think that we can feel anything unless we let ourselves bleed into it.

  13. This is sublime. Trance, love letter, aerial spin. I am lost for words. It lives somewhere between sinew and season, bone and blossom. Gorgeous writing!
